CAAHEP stands for Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. It is a post secondary accrediting agency that carries out accrediting activities in cooperation with 18 review committees. CAAHEP currently accredits over 2100 entry level education programs in 22 health science professions. Currently, the University Of Missouri has the only Masters Degree program in ultrasound technology in the U.S. If the school is not on the list, it is not an accredited facility. Students who successfully complete an accredited ultrasound program will be prepared to provide patient care while performing ultrasound procedures and capturing the best possible image. The student will also be prepared to take the American Registry in Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification examination. Students will be also be qualified to work as an ultrasound technician, urgent care sonography technician and ultrasound equipment sales.
